With
the technology currently available to filmmakers, making a first
feature film has never been easier or more accessible. Even in the
current economic climate there are gifted and enthusiastic people
defying the odds to commit their vision to cinema screens worldwide.
In
this workshop director
Graham Cantwell
will take you step by
step through the stages of feature film production on a modest budget
and will pass on all the hard earned knowledge he has accumulated over
14 years working at all levels of the industry.

Graham
has been working in film since 1996. His own first
feature film ANTON screened at festivals worldwide
including the Marche du Film at the Cannes Film Festival, the American
Film Market, the Boston Irish Film Festival, The Foyle International
Film Festival, The Galway Film Fleadh and was nominated for three
Irish Film and Television Academy Awards. The film
screened in Irish cinemas for three weeks in October 2008 to great
critical
acclaim and was picked up for international sales by Eastwest
distribution in London. It has since sold to over two dozen territories
worldwide. It was released on DVD in December 2009 and held a Top
10 position
in HMV's DVD sales over the
Christmas
period.
The
course will cover all
aspects of the
filmmaking process from
sourcing a budget to the practicalities of shooting a feature length
film on a micro budget and the logistics and requirements of post
production and marketing & distribution. |

Practical
examples will be demonstrated using footage and materials
from Graham's many projects including the IFTA nominated feature film
ANTON, TV3 drama THE GUARDS, and award winning short films A DUBLIN
STORY and ONE CAREFUL
OWNER. Support materials such as templates and handouts will be
provided to give you a deeper understanding of all the tools necessary
